About the Greater Richburg Association
Richburg - Gateway to Chester County, South Carolina
The Greater Richburg Association was established in 1991 by a group of concerned citizens. The major focus is to ensure orderly growth for the Richburg area while beautifying the area to help attract business and industry. The Greater Richburg Association is a 501(3) c organization.
The mission of the Greater Richburg Association is to promote the economic, environmental, and
social well-being of the five-mile radius surrounding Exit 65.
By unifying our efforts, we are able to accomplish much more than going in separate directions. By promoting the advantages of this area, new business and industry can be attained. Beautification of individual properties, as well as common properties, is also of prime importance to create a favorable impression and encourage repeat business. A plan for development also will assist orderly and profitable growth. Promotional literature and an active website can serve all who visit, work or live in the area.
The association also serves as a focal point for fellowship among businesses and others and can be used as a vehicle to provide a unified front in securing assistance from government and other agencies.
The Greater Richburg Association meetings are held monthly at 5:30 pm on the second Tuesday at the Richburg Town Hall, 201 North Main Street, Richburg, SC 29729. The Mayor and some of the Richburg Town Councilmembers, along with some of the Chester County Councilmembers, serve as ex-officio members and are present at each meeting.
An annual meeting, with the election of officers, is held each January at the Front Porch Restaurant.
Greater Richburg is a great resource for assisting community members with their projects and needs. It allows a member the opportunity to volunteer for one of many worthwhile committees if they have the time and the desire to do so. It also provides networking, advertising, and sponsorship opportunities. Being a member of the Greater Richburg Association provides an opportunity to make a positive difference where you visit, work, or live.

The Greater Richburg area is located in the Olde English District of South Carolina and is rich with history.
The early settlers in the area were mainly Scots-Irish from Virginia and
Pennsylvania who began immigrating to the Upcountry of South Carolina in the 1750s.
Located within an hour of the metropolitan areas of Columbia, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina, at the interchange of Exit 65 and SC Highway 9, the Greater Richburg community is also centrally located within three hours of the beaches of South Carolina and the mountains of North Carolina. The Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is less than an hour away.
The Richburg area enjoys four beautiful, diverse seasons - vibrant springs; bright, warm summers; colorful falls; and an occasional accumulation of snow once or twice during the winter.
We enjoy an exceptionally low crime rate, and Chester County provides well-equipped and
staffed police and EMS while the local fire departments are mostly manned by volunteers.
In the Greater Richburg community, you will find high quality, moderately priced housing
and friendly well-maintained neighborhoods in Victorian Hills, Cherry Hills, and others.
A quality education can be obtained at Lewisville Elementary School (Grades K-5), Lewisville Middle School (Grades 6-8), and Lewisville High School (Grades 9-12). Winthrop University is located about 20 miles to the north in Rock Hill, SC, and USC-L is located about 15 miles to the west in Lancaster, SC.
The people in our community exhibit a strong character and friendliness that is hard to find.
We have numerous churches, all of which are an integral part of life here in this area. The churches sponsor programs that provide support for the senior citizens, assistance to the needy, and work with the young people.
Come, visit the "Gateway to Chester County," explore our intricate past, meet our friendly
citizens and experience our old-fashioned Southern hospitality, and discover the vitality that makes the Greater Richburg area feel like home.
